Esra was born and raised in Turkey and has spent 25 years studying and practicing architecture in Istanbul. Alongside her architectural pursuits, she developed a keen interest in drawing and painting. Eventually, her passion shifted towards Botanical Art, which beautifully combines her love for art and plants. Thanks to Kerri Weller's encouragement, Esra had the opportunity to start teaching Botanical Illustration in Ottawa, both in person and online.
Her primary focus lies in merging the flawless forms found in nature with the intricate techniques of botanical art, resulting in aesthetically pleasing creations. Esra is a proud member of the Ottawa Society of Botanical Artists (OSBA) and has exhibited her artwork at the Plant Portraits Exhibition and the Botanical Arts Show held at the Shenkman Center. She thoroughly enjoys teaching and sharing her passion with fellow artists, and she currently teaches watercolour techniques for botanical artists at the Ottawa School of Art, located in both Downtown and Orleans Campuses.
