Esra is a Botanical Artist and Instructor with a background in architecture and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Originally from Turkey, she spent over 25 years practicing architecture in Istanbul, where she also nurtured a lifelong love of drawing and painting.
Over time, her creative focus shifted toward botanical art—a discipline that beautifully unites her interest in structure, aesthetics, and the quiet precision of nature.
Her artistic practice is rooted in a desire to capture the harmony of natural forms through the delicate, layered techniques of watercolour. She enjoys the balance between observation and craftsmanship that botanical art demands—and brings that same balance to her instruction.
She is a member of the Ottawa Society of Botanical Artists (OSBA) and has exhibited her work at the Plant Portraits Exhibition and the Botanical Art Shows.
She currently teaches botanical watercolour techniques at the Ottawa School of Art, at both the Downtown and Orléans campuses. Above all, she finds joy in sharing her passion for plants, drawing, and quiet observation with fellow artists.
